The South Coast of New South Wales Australia is a place you HAVE to visit! We have jam-packed all of our favourite locations into a two-week road trip itinerary for you! Get ready to have stunning beaches all to yourself, find magical rock pools, have countless places to surf & fish and eat some of the best seafood you have ever had! The South Coast really has it all!
If you are unsure of where the South Coast of New South Wales is, here is a map to give you a perspective:
We started our road trip at the very southern end of the South Coast and made our way north along the coast, so we will begin at the very start at a beautiful little town called Eden. Under each destination we will include one of our favourite places we visited in the area!
Stop 1: Eden
Accomodation: BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Eden
While you are in Eden we would highly recommend a trip out to explore Beowa National Park (Green Cape area) which is stunning! Spots of interest include Pulpit Rock & City Rock. Stop 2: Tathra
Accomodation: BIG4 Tathra Beach Holiday Park
On your way to Tathra, make sure you stop into Merimbula (if you have time this would be a lovely spot to stay as well, we didnt stay there but drove in to explore & it is stunning!). While you are in Tathra take a walk along the Tathra Headland walk for beautiful views. We also recommend taking a drive out to Bournda National Park and exploring the beautiful beaches, hiking trails and the Wallagoot Gap.
Stop 3: Mimosa Rocks National Park
Accommodation: Gillards Beach Camp Ground
We think Gillards Campground could be one of the best beach camps! Its an unforgettable off-grid camp stay amongst kangaroos and lizards! We also recommend taking a day-trip to the Bega Cheese Factory. Watch our video on the area here: https://youtu.be/G9sJz-0xuuw
Stop 4: Bermagui
Accomodation: Mystery Bay Campground
Go for a swim at the Bermagui Blue Pools and check out Horse Head Rock & Camel Rock. Here is our video where we camped at Mystery Bay Campground & explored the area: https://youtu.be/tne6bg1U3u4
Stop 5: Narooma
Accomodation: Dalmeny Campground
The Dalmeny Campground is the perfect spot to sit back and relax! Perched up on the hill you can watch the waves roll in, have a fish or surf and watch the sunset over the ocean.
Stop 6:
Acommodation: Congo Campground
Hang around the campground and have a fish or head out and explore Eurobodalla National Park.
Stop 7: Batemans Bay
Accomodation: Clyde View Holiday Park
Take a drive along Beach Road and stop in at all the beautiful bays. We loved Pebbly Beach.
Stop 8: Ulladulla
Accomodation: Holiday Haven Ulladulla
While you are in Ulladulla you have to try Haydens Pies. Take a drive out to Mollymook for a coffee & explore the beautiful beaches the town has to offer.
Stop 9: Jervis Bay
Accommodation: Green Patch Campground
Jervis Bay is a must-see location! We stayed at Booderee National Park at Green Patch Campground. A few spots to visit in the NP include Hyams Beach, Murrays Beach & Hole in the wall.
Stop 10: Kiama
Accomodation: Surf Beach Holiday Park
We camp at The Surf Beach Holiday Park in Kiama and then move out to Killalea Campground and find some of the BEST rock pools we have ever seen, visit the beautiful Minnamurra Rainforest, the Kiama blow holes & explore all that the area has to offer: https://youtu.be/eY7EUhAoxKI
Stop 11: Shellharbour
Accomodation: Killalea State Park
Take a drive out to Bass Point Reserve and explore the area. One of our favourites was Bushranger Bay which is in the video above.
Stop 12: Wollongong
Accomodation: Bulli Beach Tourist Park
No trip along the South Coast of NSW is complete without a visit to the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge! Make sure you hike up to the view point which looks over the whole bridge.
End point: Sydney
Accommodation: Lane Cove – Discovery Parks
This is the end of our South Coast road trip, we leave Sydney and head to Freeman’s campground and find some epic surfing & fishing spots!
