South Coast Road Trip: 

How long will it take me?

If you are travelling from Perth it will take you around 4 hours and 30 minutes to get to Albany (413km). 

When to visit? 

We recommend seeing the South Coast in Summer, which is December to January. The South Coast has rich culture and most is that of the Menang people who recognise the first summer (Dec-Jan) as Birak. The average temperature for this time of the year is around 19 degrees celsius. 

What is there to do on the South Coast?

Basic Road-Trip Itinerary: 

We would recommend spending a few days in each of these towns as they all have so much to offer! Alternatively, you could do a day in each and make it a short long-weekend getaway!

1. Walpole:

Camping – Crystal Springs (DEntrecasteaux National Park)

Things to do:

• Valley of the Giants Tree Top walk
• Walpole-Nornalup NP 
• D’entrecasteaux NP – This is one of our favourite NP’s in WA
• Visit Peaceful Bay

2. Denmark: 

Camping – Denmark Rivermouth Caravan Park

-William Bay NP to find Greens Pool & Elephants Rocks

• Explore the beautiful town centre of Denmark & make sure you go for a coffee in one of their cute coffee shops. We have been to Ravens Cafe before & loved it. 
• Scotsdale Tourist Drive

3. Albany: 

Camping – Cosy Corner or Bettys Beach

• Albanys Historic Whaling Station
• Annual migration of Humpback Whales
• Two People’s Bay Nature Reserve – Little Beach
• West Cape Howe NP
• Torndirrup NP – The Gap & The Natural Bridge
• Cosy Corner 
• Surf Breaks: Mutton Bird, Nanarup, Salmon Holes & Sand Patch.
